Immediate implant placement after root canal-treated tooth extraction.
The patient is a 70-year-old woman with a fractured tooth at tooth number 24. Two dental roots are observed. It has been decided to proceed with immediate implant placement. In cases where the tooth has undergone root canal treatment, there may be some discomfort during extraction. The tooth was eventually extracted using a drill to perform direct drilling slightly on the palatal side of the tooth during the extraction procedure. The final drilling was performed on the palatal side of the tooth. I usually use a Taper drill and perform under-drilling by about one size. The length of the drill goes beyond the root, typically around 13mm. Afterward, using a root picker or similar instrument, most of the time, the tooth extraction is successful.
